Dr. Paula Capurro
Dr. Paula Capurro Smith was born in Argentina, and moved to the U.S. at age twelve. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida International University and majored in Biology and Chemistry. She attended Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, CA, and graduated top of her class. She has practiced in Northern California since 2008. She has Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Great Danes, French Bulldogs, Cats, as well as chickens, goats, and ducks! She also cares for several saltwater fish tanks.
Dr. Darcy Atterbury
Dr. Darcy Atterbury graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1978. After working in Southern CA for 2 years, she met and married her husband Tom, moved to Northern CA, and later had 4 children. Darcy has worked at most of the vet hospitals in Sonoma County, doing relief work while raising their children. She joined the team at Township Animal Hospital in 2014 on a very part time basis but is now frequently seeing patients and doing much of the elective surgeries. Darcy also spays cats every week for Forgotten Felines and whelps and raises litters of puppies for Canine Companions for Independence. The Atterbury “empty” nest is filled with 3 dogs, 1 cat, puppies at various times, and home visits by their married kids and grandchildren.
Dr. Ken Bacon
Dr Ken Bacon graduated with honors for North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Having grown up in the town of Hendersonville in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ken was eager to explore other parts of the country. He came to California that summer and has never left. He opened his own practice, Central Marin Cat & Exotic Hospital, in 1995 in San Rafael, and sold it last year (2018). Since then Ken has enjoyed helping other practices in the north bay using his extensive experience in cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents, and amphibians. Ken is pleased to be working with the talented doctors and staff at Township Animal Hospital. He is the proud father of five children, three of them human and two furries named Sierra, a lab mix, and Kiki, a tripod calico cat.
Shirley grew up in Washington State and is now a long time Sonoma County resident, and has worked at Township Animal Hospital since 1995. She lives in Windsor with her husband and two English Springer Spaniels. In her spare time, she loves to go camping.
Anne grew up in Marin and came to Windsor in 1981. She has worked at Township Animal Hospital since 2003. In her spare time, Anne enjoys working with stained glass and gardening. She lives with her husband and cat, Mimi.
Alex grew up in California’s Central Valley and moved to Sonoma County in 2003. She has worked at Township Animal Hospital since 2006. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and visiting the beach with her yellow lab. She also enjoys working with service dogs.
Tami grew up in Healdsburg. She loves dogs and horses, and has worked in the veterinary field since 1997. She has been showing and breeding Golden Retrievers since 1990. In her spare time, she loves to watch her daughter barrel race and her husband and son play ice hockey. She joined the staff of Township Animal Hospital in early 2013 and is very excited about it.
Patti grew up in Southern California and moved to Windsor in 1986. She has been working at Township Animal Hospital since 1999. In her spare time, Patti enjoys shopping and gardening. She enjoys spending time with her husband, her two dogs, and her cat.
Tiffany grew up in Jenner and has been a Veterinary Assistant since 2002. She as been working at Township Animal Hospital since 2013. Tiffany has raised cattle and horses all of her life and loves the outdoors. In her spare time she loves crafty projects and is also an avid photographer.
Emily grew up in Marin County and moved to Sonoma County in 2014 then started working at Township Animal Hospital. She has worked with rescue animals through The Milo Foundation and Service Dogs through Bergin University of Canine Studies. She also has her bachelors of science in Cynology from Bergin University and teaches there part time. Emily currently lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and three chihuahuas.
Maria lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and children. They have 2 dogs, chickens, and turtles. She has been working at Township Animal Hospital since 2016. She loves the SF Giants, going to baseball games and spending time with her beautiful granddaughter.
Carlos is Dr. Capurro’s father and her accountant. He was also born in Buenos Aires Argentina. With wife Margarita they had three girls, Paula, Lucila and Sofia. Together they have two grandsons, Franco and Charlie, and a granddaughter. In Argentina he attended University of Buenos Aires where he majored in Economics. He worked for a family owned travel agency since he was 14 years-old and companies like Argentine Airlines and American Express Travel Services. Once in the United States the family lived in Pennsylvania and Miami, FL. In Miami he worked in tourism related companies like Exprinter Travel Services and American Executive Travel. He got his Masters of Accounting at Florida International University. As an accountant he worked for H & R Block and CBIZ, Tax and Accounting Services. Once in Santa Rosa he joined his daughter’s company taking care of the accounting system.
Bekah was born and raised right here in Sonoma County and loves working and being around animals. She and her Aussie pup love getting into mischief and going on adventures.
Kylie has been a customer of Township since she was a small child, and found her passion for veterinary medicine at a very young age after caring for her childhood cat. She is currently studying for her RVT license and hopes to become a technician specialist. Besides working with pets, Kylie loves to draw and cook. She lives with her Lab/Aussie mix, Izzy, her sweet senior kitty, Roxy, and her spunky kitten Sgt. Pepper.
Noreen grew up in the small town of Bodega on a ranch, where her love of animals began at a young age. She has always been a cat person and currently lives with her husband and 4 kitties. Noreen has been in the medical field since 1984, and joined Township Animal Hospital in February 2018. She loves being apart of the team. Noreen also recently became a Grandmother with the birth of her first grandchild, Carson. He is the love of her life!
